What a Busy Weekend

I just had a very fun weekend! I've really been working on my crawling, and just about have my knees under me. I'm starting to move pretty fast on my belly, and try to trick Mommy and Daddy into guessing where I'll end up. Daddy put my down on my playmat on Saturday while he watched me from the couch; I surprised him by crawling over and grabbing his toes! He thought that was pretty funny. I love chasing the cats! They are so soft, and I like to get their tails.

On Friday, Mommy and I went to the toy store and I got a bunch of new stuff to play with and chew on. We had lunch at the sushi place with our friend Tracy. Mommy had sushi; I had applesauce - I think I got the better meal! I also got to sit in a restaurant high chair for the first time. It was neat to look around and see what’s going on. I had a hard time taking a nap because I was so excited about all my new toys. Here’s a picture of some of my new toys:

And here’s me playing with my favorite spinny thing:

Mommy and I also went to see Bubbie at her office since it was Bubbie’s last day before her vacation. Bubbie is having surgery and won’t work for a few months. I’ll get to go play with Bubbie a lot while she recovers! I got to see some of the people Bubbie works with, and they all wanted to hold me and talk to me. I showed them how well I roll over and scootch around.

Saturday night I got to play with Bubbie and Boompa while Mommy and Daddy went out for a little while. B&B are a lot of fun! Bubbie reads me stories and Boompa sings me silly songs.

Sunday we had brunch with Grammy Sallie and Mike at Schneidhorts. Mommy offered me a french fry and I took it - yum! Mommy and Daddy thought it was really funny at first, but then I guess I liked it too much and they took it away. Mommy gave me the insides of the fry, but it wasn’t the same. I can’t wait until I get to eat all the fun stuff! Until then, I get mushy peaches, squash and carrots. Here’s Daddy trying to feed me carrots:

On Monday I got passed around like a hot potato. We went to an open house and saw a lot of Bubbie and Boompa’s friends. They all wanted to hold me and kiss me - Mommy lost count of how many different shades of lipstick I was wearing! There were two other babies there for me to play with, so I got to relax for a little while. But then we went out to see more people and I got passed around again. Mommy and Daddy said that I did very well handling all the different people - I even got to pet a dog! But finally we went home. I took a splashy bath then went to sleep. Whew! What a day!

Later today I’m going to go play with my friends. We were going to go to the zoo, but it’s been rainy out and Mommy says that all the animals don’t come out in the rain. So we’re going to see our friends somewhere else. Then, Mommy and I are going to visit Bubbie. She had surgery today and we want to see how she’s doing. Boompa says that seeing me will make Bubbie get better!

That was a busy weekend! I need to go rest up now so I can play more later. Stay tuned for more of my adventures!

About ME

I was born December 12, 2008, at 528p at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. I weighed in at 5 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 21 inches long.

Since then I've changed a bit! I'm now almost 14 pounds and quite a few inches longer. I didn't do too much at first, but in the last few months I've started doing all sorts of things!

I started rolling over from my stomach to my back when I was about 6 weeks old. I hated being on my belly then. But I think it was because I was drinking milk-based formula at the time. But once Mom and Dad switched me over to soy formula, my tummy's been pretty happy. I rolled from my back to my tummy when I was 14 weeks old. Boy, was that fun! From then on, I've liked being on my belly, and rolling back and forth. In fact, I like it so much that I roll all over the place.

But that was before I started crawling. Wow! My whole world has opened up. I'm still trying to figure out how to get my knees up under me, but it's coming. I can crawl on my belly by pulling with my arms and pushing with my feet and knees. Mom thinks it's the greatest thing ever! She calls it "army crawling," and cried when I did it - she seems to cry a lot when I do neat things!

I'm able to play more with my toys, too. Mom got me a bunch of new toys the other day - they are so much fun! I've been busy trying them all out. Some taste better than others. But I really like the ones that make noise. And I like the toys that spin. I have one toy that makes noise when I spin it - double happiness!

Mom takes me to the zoo a lot. I like the animals. Especially now that I sit in my stroller like a big girl. I didn't like being in my car seat. Now I can see a lot more around me. Like when we go walking with Boompa: I can see the trees and Jake the dog. I also like going to the park and sitting in the swing, that's a lot of fun! I like playing with my Daddy, too; he's a lot of fun. He swings me around and makes up silly names for me like Cutie Pumpkin Face and Squishy Bean. He's silly.

I'm also eating a lot more now. For a month Mom and Dad tried to give me rice cereal: yuck! I didn't like it at all, but they kept trying to put it in my mouth. Blah! They finally wised up and gave me oatmeal instead. That's a lot better. I've tried a lot of new food in the past week: oatmeal, applesauce, bananas, carrots and pears. I like the carrots and pears, but still like applesauce the best! I think Mom said that I'm going to try peas next. Wonder what those are?

I'm such a busy girl these days that I don't like to take naps; there's just too much to do! But Mom and Dad say that I have to so I have energy to do all the fun things I like to do. So I guess it's time for my nap now. I'll keep you posted on how I'm doing! You can leave me comments here, too!
